Plastering is the difference between a room that looks finished and one that looks nearly finished. Paint does not hide a wavy wall, it shows it up, because gloss and sheen travel across a surface and pick out every dip.
Most of the plastering I do around Bridgwater is on older houses, and those rarely come with a flat starting point. Walls move, previous repairs sit proud, and what looks like one surface is often three different materials meeting. I work out what's actually there before quoting, because that decides whether it's a skim, a full re-plaster or boarding over.

Common questions about plastering
How long does plastering take to dry?
Fresh plaster goes from pink to pale as it dries, usually three to five days for a wall and up to a week for a ceiling in a cold room. Don't paint it until it's uniformly pale, trapping moisture behind emulsion is what causes flaking later. I'll tell you when it's ready.
Do I need to move out while you plaster?
No. Most jobs are done room by room and you can stay in the house throughout. I sheet everything, keep the dust down and clear as I go. The room being worked on isn't usable that day, but the rest of the house is.
Can you plaster over old plaster?
Often yes, that's skimming, and it's cheaper and quicker. It only works if what's underneath is sound and well bonded. If it's blown, hollow or crumbling then a skim over the top will fail with it, and I'll say so rather than take the money.
Do you plaster new extensions and new builds?
Yes. New work is usually boarded then skimmed, which is faster and gives a very flat finish. I can board and finish in one go so you're not waiting on two different trades.
What does plastering cost in Bridgwater?
It depends on the size of the room and the state of the existing surface, a straightforward skim over sound plaster is a very different job to hacking off and re-plastering. That's why I quote after seeing it rather than over the phone. The quote is free.
